So on the shelf goes my Dark Elves, Dwarfs and the Orcs and Goblins.
Coming in the post i have
and
All with the help of my moneyback from Maelstrom.
So thats the start of the Legion, following these im undicided at which thing to get its either going to be a these from Totalwargamer or these. With the first option it is more of a complete army where as the second choice has more troops but no Auxiliaries. Which would make another £24 needed so abit more expenive but you get alot more stuff. So we will have to wait and see how my sales go of the above mentioned Dark Elves and Orcs and Goblins before I order anything else.
The Legio sexta Victrix (Sixth Victorious Legion)
This is the Legion that my force will be base on. The Victorious Sixth as a Legion has a very good history. It was founded by Octavian in 41 BC. The Legion was the twin of the Vi Ferrata Legion and held many of there veterans in there ranks. The legion got bloodied in Perusia (Perugia in modern Italy) in 41 BC, sieging Lucious Antonius (Mark Antony's Brother). It also saw action against the Sextus Pompeius, who occupied Sicily and made threats to discontinue sending grain to Rome. In 31 BC the legion fought in the Battle of Actium against Mark Antony which proved the decisive battle of the final war of the Roman Republic. The following year the Legion moved to Hispania Tarraconensis (North East Spain now). Here it served Augustus (Formally Octavian) in the war agsinst the Cantabrians which lasted from 25 BC - 13 BC.
In 119, the Legion was relocated to Northern Britannia by order of Hadrian, to assist the already present legions in quelling the resistance there. The Sixth Legion was key in securing victory, and would eventually replace the diminished IX at Eboracum (York). In 122 the legion started work on Hadrian's Wall which would maintain the peace for thfor ere two decades.
Twenty years later, they helped construct the Antonine Wall (running West from the Firth of Forth in Scotland), but it was largely abandoned by 164.
In 185, the British legions mutinied and put forward a commander of their own, named Priscus, to replace the unpopular Emperor Commodus, but the former declined. The mutiny was suppressed by Pertinax, who would later become emperor himself after Commodus was murdered.
So there you have a brief history of the Legion i will be basing mine upon. Just need to hope I have even a fraction of the victories of the Victorious Sixth I will be a happy man.
